HEGINS - Line Mountain followed the advice of old politicos about voting in its game Friday against Tri-Valley.
The Eagles scored early and often in trouncing Tri-Valley 55-13, a win that kept Line Mountain's Twin Valley Conference record unblemished at 4-0 and ruined the Bulldogs' homecoming.
Kyle Troutman took care of the early part, scampering 63 yards for the first of his three touchdowns on the second play from scrimmage. The first of six Austin Snyder extra points made it 7-0.
Five first-half Tri-Valley turnovers - four fumbles and an interception - helped the Eagles take care of the often part, as they scored all of their 55 points in the first half.
Line Mountain scored five times to take a 35-0 lead in the first quarter alone.
Three of the scores came after Tri-Valley fumbles - on a 23 yard pass to Codi Morris from Marty Beninsky, an 11-yard pass from Beninsky to Dillan Michael and a 21-yard Beninsky run.
Troutman closed the first quarter with a 67-yard TD run and opened the second quarter with a 43-yard scoring run. For the game, the senior running back ran for 221 yards on only six carries.
Dillan Michael scored his second touchdown midway through the second quarter when he gathered in a 5-yard pass from second string quarterback Cole Rickert.
Fullback Cory Warford capped the Line Mountain scoring with an 8-yard run after a fumbled punt.
Tri-Valley coach Mike Kogut talked about coming out for the second half trailing 55-0.
"We asked them at halftime to come out and not quit, to play Tri-Valley football, play hard and win the second half," Kogut said. "I think we did that. We didn't quit and we played hard. What's done is done and we have to learn from it and move on."
The Dawgs, who suited up only about 20 players for the game, put
13 points on the board in the second half against the Line Mountain subs, while holding the Eagles scoreless.
Blake Bowman, who played quarterback for most of the game as Dalton Miller was limited to defensive duty due to a high ankle sprain, scored on a 15-yard run in the third quarter.
Lance Schultz punched it in from 3 yards out in the fourth after the Dawgs recovered a Line Mountain fumble.
