Tornadoes beat Jays

ALMEDIA - Ranotta Ahrensfield and Taylor Getty each scored for Mount Carmel to give the Red Tornadoes a much needed 2-1 victory over Central Columbia on Thursday.

The win pushes the Red Tornadoes overall record to 5-4, and Megan Van Doren made seven saves in the win.

COAL TOWNSHIP - Lourdes took a big step toward winning Division II of the Schuylkill League with its sweep of Pine Grove, 25-9, 25-14 and 25-19.

Molly Loftus had 21 kills, Maura Frasch had 12 service points and three blocks and Elen O'Donnell chipped in with 11 digs and 10 service points.

Ali Singh capped a busy day for the Red Raiders with 23 digs.

Warrior Run 3 Southern Columbia 2

TURBOTVILLE - Southern Columbia got goals from Hannah Stone and Marissa Noll in regulation, but Warrior Run's Matt McAndrew scored tied the game and then scored in overtime to give the Defenders the win.

Taylor Hoffman had both assists for the Tigers, who dropped to 5-6-1 overall.
