Of the 175 entries in Week 8 of The News-Item's football contest, five entrants guessed all 12 games correctly.
Jim Williams Jr., of 1020 W. Pine St. in Coal Township, won first place by guessing closest to the most points scored by a team. Alabama scored the most with a 59-0 win over Texas A&M. Williams guessed 55 points and wins a $50 gift certificate to any of the participating businesses in the contest.
Jessica Hubler, of 211 N. Franklin St. in Shamokin, won second place with a guess of 54 points. Hubler wins a $25 gift certificate to any of the participating businesses.
Don Manley Sr., of 434 Tharp St. in Coal Township, won third place and a $15 gift certificate with a guess of 52 points.
Richard Tasker, of Coal Township, and Bob Valania, of Coal Township, also guesses all games correctly but did not place in the top three. Along with the three winners, Tasker and Valania will be entered into the end-of-year $200 drawing.
A reminder that each entrant is allowed only one entry in each week's contest.
