Second Annual Hillside Coaches Golf Classic

Saturday, June 28, at Knoebels Three Ponds. Event is a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Participants must be at least 21 years. Funds raised will go toward supporting the football players and cheerleaders at Shamokin Area. Sponsorship includes green fees, cart fees, breakfast, lunch and a tournament novelty. Mount Carmel Area Youth Basketball Camp

Children between the ages of seven and 12 are invited to attend the camp between Monday, June 23 and Thursday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Cost of camp is $50. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and lunch will be available. Applications may be picked up in the elementary school office or the high school athletic office. The first 60 applications will be accepted. All completed applications should be sent to John Lazicki, 300 S. Pine St., Mount Carmel. For more information, call 205-1106.

Southern Columbia Girls Soccer Skills Camp

July 14-16, 5-8 p.m., Designed to provide girls entering grades 2-8 with the opportunity to focus on fundamental tecnhical instruction in a relaxed learning environment. Three-day camp features group and individual instruction, tecnhical skills and drills, small-sided competition, games and an excellent coach-to-camper ratio. Richard F. Beierschmitt Memorial Golf Scramble

Indian Hills will conduct the Richard F. Beierschmitt Golf Scramble July 13. This event will raise funds in memory of Beierschmitt, past superintendent of Mount Carmel Area School District and a member at Indian Hills. Money raised for this event will be donated back to Mount Carmel Area School District for worthwhile causes. This is a 9 a.m. shotgun start and includes coffee and doughnuts, cart, lunch, prizes and refreshments on the course. Entry fee is $80. Hole sponsorships are available by emailing Don Spieller at ihgcproshop@aol.com or by contacting Bob or Gerald Beierschmitt.

Shamokin AYSO Bison Soccer Camp

July 28 to Aug. 1, 5-8 p.m., at the Elysburg Weis Complex. Registration fee is $100 with discounts for siblings. To register, go to www.shamokinayso.org for a link to Bucknell's registration page.

10th Annual CSO, Inc. Golf Classic

The 10th annual Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Inc., Golf Classic will be held Monday, July 14, at Frosty Valley Country Club, Danville. Format is 4-man scramble with a 10 a.m. shotgun start. Funds raised support CSO, Inc., programs that provide a variety of assistance to low-income individuals and/or households. For additional information, call CSO, Inc., at 570-644-6575..

Mount Carmel Area Youth Track Camp

American Legion/Mount Carmel Golf Tourney

Registration for players ages 6-12, June 29, 6 p.m. at the Vine Street Gym. Potential players must provide a copy of their birth certificate.

26th Annual Wayside Open

July 26 at Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Club. Four-person scramble with a double shotgun start at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Entry fee of $85 includes golf with cart, refreshments on course and at dinner, lunch served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., pig roast and live entertainment at 7 p.m., entry into the closest-to-the-line contest, team and 18 holes of specialty prizes and a gift. Players must be registered by July 19. Tee time preferences are given when a team is paid in full. Those interested in being hole sponsors should contact Don Spieller at www.ihgcproshop.com or calling 570-644-1972. Players may register as well with Spieller or contact Stacie Wiest, Rachel Benner, Betsy Wiest, William Wiest or Kurt Masser. Proceeds from the tournament benefit the Wiest-Whery Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Shamokin Area Fall Sports Physicals

Wednesday, July 9, 3 p.m. Students planning on participating in a fall sport should attend. Physicals will be done by Dr. Miller at a cost of $20 (cash only, no personal checks). Fee must be paid at time of physical. Physicals will be given for the following sports: junior high, junior varsity and varsity football; boys and girls junior high and varsity cross country, boys and girls soccer, volleyball, junior high girls basketball, junior high softball and all cheerleading squads. PIAA physical evaluation forms and Shamokin Area School District athletic policy packets can be obtained in the high school principal's office. Forms can also be downloaded from the school website at Indians.k12.pa.us by selecting the high school or middle school and clicking on athletic forms along the left. All forms must be completed by a parent or guardian prior to arriving on July 9 in order to receive a physical examination. Students who do not have a completed PIAA physical evaluation will not be permitted to participate in a fall sport, including practices.

Mount Carmel AYSO

Fall 2014/Spring 2015 registration sessions for the Mount Carmel AYSO will be held for both new and returning players Wednesday, June 25 from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Library. Any child, ages 4-14 in the Mount Carmel and surrounding areas are invited to register. Sign-up fee is $40. All first time players must bring a copy of their birth certificate.

Little Shamokin Indians

Registration, June 22, 5-7 p.m. at The Second Floor, the former O'Brien's. Cost is $10 for single and $20 for family. There will be a meeting to follow. Any questions, feel free to contact Dan Stoud at 570-875-7491.

SYBL Open Gym Nights

Opem gyms will be held at the American Legion. The schedule will be Mondays, 6 p.m. - Kindergarten through second grade; Tuesdays, 6:30 - Fifth through seventh grade; Wednesdays, 6 p.m. - Third and fourth grade; Thursdays, 6 p.m. - Fifth through eighth grade. Basketball funamentals will be taught. Youths should bring their own drinks.

Kulpmont Football/Cheerleading

Registration, June 19 and 26, 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Borough Hall. First-time players and cheerleaders must bring a copy of their birth certificate. Registration fees apply. For information, call 570-205-4226.

Knoebels Three Ponds Junior Golf Clinics

Mount Carmel Area Youth Cheer Clinic

"Just Gotta Cheer" clinic, July 7-9, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day Cost is $40 (family discount available). Open to any student entering first through eighth grades. Line Mountain Lineman Challenge

Line Mountain will host a Lineman Challenge Saturday, July 12. Cost is $120 per six-man team with each player receiving a T-shirt. Registration and warmup is at 8 a.m. and competition starts at 8:30. For more information call Brian Wetzel at 570-850-8560 or e-mail wetzel@rocketmail.com.

Eagles 7 x 7 soccer tournament

The 6th Annual Eagles 7v7 Soccer Tournament is scheduled for Saturday June 28 at Line Mountain Jr./Sr. High School. The event plays host to boys and girls high school and middle school teams as well as AYSO U12 and U10 teams from across the Susquehanna Valley. The tournament is sponsored by the Line Mountain Soccer Boosters as well as many local businesses. The Line Mountain Soccer Boosters will welcome 450 athletes divided into 40 teams, representing 20 school districts. The tournament is a 7v7 format and will crown champions in seven divisions.

Games start at 9:00 a.m. and will run throughout the day.
