Selinsgrove's Blane Heimbach scored the opening night sprint car feature win at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday. The win was worth $3,300.
Heimbach and Harrisburg's Chad Layton went back and forth for the top spot for several laps before Heimbach finally made the winning pass off the fourth turn on lap nine.
Layton closed on Heimbach late in the 25-lap main event, but Heimbach held on for the win over Layton and Elizabethville's Mike Erdley. This top three was the same as the finish from the Selinsgrove Speedway opener a few weeks ago.
Brent Marks and Greg Hodnett completed the top five in the sprint car feature.
Layton and Heimbach are both on top of their game at Port Royal and it will be fun to watch them race for the track championship this season. Heimbach beat Layton last year. Layton won it in 2010 and 2012. Both are former Selinsgrove Speedway 358 champions.
Tim Wilson and Herndon's Brett Schadel raced door-to-door over the final five laps of the super late model feature with Wilson stealing the win coming off turn four racing for the checkered flag. Andy Haus, Matt Parks and Scott Haus were the top five.
Tyler Bear won the 305 sprint car feature.
At Lincoln Speedway, it was second generation driver Jimmy Siegel winning his first race of the season and 10th of his career. He beat Cory Haas, Brian Montieth, Tim Wagaman and Danny Dietrich.
Kevin Nouse won the 358 sprint car feature at Lincoln over Chase Dietz and Niki Young.
Selinsgrove Speedway canceled its Saturday racing program due to the cold weather and wet grounds. The track will look to get its season started this week.
The Empire Super Sprints will sanction the event at Selinsgrove. The winner receives $3,000 out of a $13,000 purse. The season opener at Selinsgrove was postponed last week so this will be the first 360 race of the season. Three-time NASCAR champion Tony Stewart invaded Snyder County with his 360 sprinter and won last year's event.
NOTES: It's a tripleheader weekend in central Pennsylvania for the 410 sprints beginning with Williams Grove on Friday night, Lincoln and Port Royal Speedways on Saturday night and the Spring Classic at Susquehanna Speedway Park to conclude the weekend on Sunday night.
It's also a busy weekend of the 358's with races at Trail-Way and Williams Grove on Friday, Saturday at Selinsgrove, along with the 360's, and then Sunday at SSP.
Williams Grove's first major event of the season is the Tommy Classic on April 18 paying $6,000 to the winner of the 30-lap main event.
