YORK - Adam Kritzer, a York College student and 2012 graduate of Line Mountain High School, earned 2014 scholar All-American honors as a member of the Spartans wrestling team.
A sophomore from Herndon, Kritzer is a nursing major and has maintained a 3.5 grade point average. His scholar recognition came from the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
As a team, the Spartans, under first year head coach Duane Bastress, ranked 22nd in the nation with a team GPA of 3.281. York finished the year with a mark of 11-8.
Ryan Flynn, a freshman on the York wrestling team, joined Kritzer as a scholar All-American.
Kritzer completed his second season as a member of the Spartans wrestling team with a 22-10 record that included five major decision victories and three pins. He competed at 157 pounds and had the fourth-most victories on the team.
"Adam has bought into what we want our student-athletes to be in every aspect, hard workers both on and off the mat and as well as the classroom," Bastress said in a release from the colletge. "His outstanding work ethic is shown as he has achieved a GPA of 3.5 in nursing. He also showed his grit and determination as he wrestled in our regional tournament with a broken hand. He is the true meaning of what it means to be a Spartan."
