H.S. BASEBALL: Southern Columbia defeats Montgomery

MONTGOMERY - John Wilson and Blake Marks combined on a four-hitter, and Mason Peters had two hits, including a double, and scored both runs, as Southern Columbia downed Montgomery 2-1 in Heartland Conference baseball Wednesday,

The game was originally scheduled for Southern but moved because the Tigers' field was not in condition after last weekend's snowstorm.

Wilson picked up the win. Marks also had two hits and drove in a run.

Hughesville 8 Shamokin 2

HUGHESVILLE - Hughesville scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and blew open the Heartland Athletic Conference game with three runs in the fifth.

Thomas Campbell, who took the loss, had two hits, including a double, for the Indians (0-1) and Logan Mirolli also doubled.

Brett Reitz was 3-for-3 and drove in three runs for Hughesville.

Central Columbia 4 Mount Carmel 2

ALMEDIA - Central Columbia took a 4-0 lead and held on for the Heartland Conference Athletic Conference win over the Red Tornadoes (0-1).

Colin Bettleyon had two hits for Mount Carmel, and Tyler Haladay doubled.
