Bear Gap Vaulters to host event
ELYSBURG - Vaulters from the Shamokin and Pittsburgh areas, Virginia and New Jersey will compete at a barrel competition 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Elysburg Community gym.
The Bear Gap Vaulters are hosting the event, described as athletes performing a series of dance and gymnastics skills on a stationary barrel. Approximately 30 girls, between the ages of seven and 19, will be competing in individual, pair and team events.
The Bear Gap Vaulters, consisting of at least 8 members, was formed several years ago when Bear Gap resident Ginger Klein introduced the popular European sport to the area. The team has previously demonstrated their skills on barrels and horses at several competitions and events.
