Lourdes grad third in javelin at college meet

Getchey 3rd in conference meet

HUNTINGDON - Lourdes Regional graduate Maria Getchey, competing for Susquehanna University, finished third in the women's javelin throw at the Landmark Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships Saturday at Juniata College.

Getchey, who competed for Mount Carmel Area in the schools' cooperative program, had a throw of 111 feet even, finishing behind Kaleen Holden of Moravian, who threw 120 feet, 10 inches, and Claudia Bartoli of Susquehanna, who threw 111-3.

Getchey is a freshman.
