The Bernie Romanoski Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame will hold its team induction breakfast on Saturday, Oct. 13 at Masser's Banquet Hall in Paxinos. The ceremonies will be begin at 10 a.m.
The teams to be honored include the 1959, 1960 and '61 Shamokin basketball teams, the 1962 and '63 Coal Township basketball teams, the 1987 Shamokin Area baseball team, the 1995 Southern Columbia boys basketball team and the 1983 Lourdes softball team.

The Shamokin High School Greyhounds won District 4 titles in three consecutive years (1959, '60 and '61) with a combined record of 65 wins and three losses. The team was coached by Howie Landa with Lou Sorrentino as his assistant. Players in 1959 were Dave Thomas, Bob Fedorko, John Kanopka, Herm Miller, Bill Spears, Stan Jashinski, Dick Esher, Jim Laughlin, Mike Strick and Steve Magyar. The Coal Township Purple Demons basketball teams from 1962 and '63 went a combined 38-1 and won one District 4 silver medal. They were coached by Joe Strunk, who was assisted by Ed Binkoski. Players on the 1962 team were Don Lauer, Ron Nalewak, Paul Weikel, Terry Faust, Bill Janovich, Bob Treon, Jake Ozga, Kip Dilliplane, Russ Miller, Bob Opie and John Lichty. Players on the 1963 team were Joe Gubernot, Gib Jones, Bob Opie, Jake Ozga, Jake Lichty, Russ Miller, Jim Linderman, John Kwasnoski, John Mayton, Jim Star, Bill Pensyl, Rick Oravitz, Bill Swisher, Bob Paczkoski, George Conbeer and Andy Reich.
The 1987 Shamokin Area baseball team won the only District 4 title in the program's history and finished that year with a 14-9 record after catching fire in the district tournament. The team was managed by Chuck Sosnoskie, with Steve Todzia, Chris Doty and Rick Kashner assisting. Players on the team were Darryl Varney, Dan Rumberger, Rob Kaleta, Shawn Hartman, Paul Hoffman, Dave Benedict, Todd Nye, Jeff Wasko, Chet Krepshaw, Ed Smink, Larry Bates, Ronald Nairns, Dave Reed and Wes Tillett.
Southern Columbia's boys basketball team went 29-1 with a title in the District 4 playoffs and two wins in the PIAA tournament before losing to Sleighton. The team was coached by Al Lonoconus with Curt Stellfox as his assistant. Players on the team were Brad Osevala, Dennis (Butch) Romanoski, Chad Fabian, Pat Garrigan, Ardie Kissinger, Erik Mincemoyer, Dan Carr, Scott Pensyl, Todd Sharrow, Justin Barnes, Brad Deitterick, Jared Miller, Tim Snyder, Andy Helwig, Chris Levan, Eric Duncan and Mike Moncavage.
Lourdes' 1983 softball team posted the only undefeated regular season in the team's history with a 14-0 mark and finished 16-3, including the playoffs. The team was coached by Bill Gilger and won silver in the District 4 tournament. Players on the team were Karen Raybuck, Paula McGinley, Pam Bressi, Simone Bartol, Kim Rosini, Tina Edmondson, Kathy Klein, Mary Bach, April Nevis, Marge Reigle, Cristina Silvestro, Wendy Sheriff, Janet Wasilewski, Mary Jo Shaffer, Margaret Timco, Paige Rosini, Sue Bradley, Amanda Willis and Betsy Candelora.
