MOUNT CARMEL - With a career high 31 points, Mount Carmel's Ranotta Ahrensfield joined teammate Kim Andruscavage in reaching the 1,000-point plateau for their careers and the Red Tornadoes easily beat Lewisburg 81-44.
"To have two girls do this in the same season is very exciting," Mount Carmel head coach Lisa Varano said.
"Ranotta had a tremendous game and it's nice to be able to get this at home while her family was there."
The Tornadoes, who improved to 8-0, held just a two-point lead after the first quarter.
Ali Varano added 15 points for Mount Carmel, while Ana Raybuck and Heather Bolick chipped in with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

MAHANOY CITY - Tyler Cavenas netted 12 points but the Golden Bears fell to the Red Tornadoes in the Rhoades Foundation Classic at Lebanon Valley College.
Elijah Duran led Mount Carmel with 11 points.
This was the first loss for Mahanoy Area this season. Mike Gaval and Neal Goodman combined for 19 points and seven 3-pointers.

Shamokin wins pair of golds
ANNVILLE - Shamokin's boys and girls finished 10th and seventh, respectively, in the team standings at the Lebanon Valley College High School Invitational on Saturday.
Renea Broscious and Sam Zelinski finished in first and second in the girls shot put. Broscious turned in a throw of 33 feet, 3 inches, while Zelinski was just off the mark with 32-5.
On the boys side, the 1600-meter relay team, made up of Brandon Mendoza, Brandon Nash, Matt Gass and Shane Williams edged out Cumberland Valley and Cedar Crest for the top spot on the podium.
Davey Williams also had a big day for himself with a sixth place finish in the triple jump, seventh in the long jump, eighth in the high jump and ninth in the 200-meter race.
Nash and Gass finished fifth and eighth in the 400-meter race, and teamed up with Davey Williams and Josh Dunn for a third-place finish in the 800-meter relay.
Other notable finishes were Kenny Anderson (fourth) in the pole vault and Draven Miller (eighth) in the shot put.
