Halftime switch helps Mount Carmel top Shikellamy

SUNBURY - Mount Carmel, holding a one-point lead at halftime, made a defensive switch and outscored Shikellamy by 11 points in the the third period and went on to a 59-47 girls basketball win over the Braves Friday to raise its record to 4-0

Ranotta Ahrensfield and Kim Andruscavage scored 15 and 13 points, respectively, for the Red Tornadoes. Kayla Shamus added 10 points.

Lauren Onesi led the Braves with 13 points.

HAMBURG - Jacob Kleman scored 18 points and Mount Carmel built a 16-point lead through three quarters for a non-league win. Elijah Duran and Rob Varano scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Red Tornadoes (3-3).

Brenden Forrest scored 27 points for Hamburg (1-6).
