MONTOURSVILLE - Lourdes barely broke a sweat.
Really. The Red Raiders 53-12 District 4 Class A quarterfinal victory over Mansfield (14-9) was almost too easy.
The biggest challenge Lourdes (16-7) may face is maintaining focus until Tuesday or Wednesday night - whenever District 4 officials schedule the Raiders' semifinal matchup with Cowanesque Valley, a 57-40 winner over St. John Neumann in another Saturday afternoon quarterfinal.
Despite playing this game - their opening game in the postseason - following a nearly two-week layoff, the Red Raiders had a little too much of everything for the Tigers.
They had too much offense, even though nobody scored more than Christina Perles' nine points.
They had too much defense, using a press to consistently force turnovers and hold Mansfield to seven first half points, including only two in the first quarter, while using the aforementioned offense to go up 43-7 at the break.
And they had too much depth, getting quality minutes from everyone up and down the bench and having 11 players crack the scoring column.
"Obviously, we've been playing very well, but what concerned me most was the two-week layoff," Lourdes coach Mike Klembara said. "But we played very well.
"Our press bothered them an awful lot. That was our game plan going in."
The challenge for Klembara was mixing in his reserves and younger players while still managing to get enough playing time for his core players to maintain their sharpness for the playoff run.
"What you have to worry about is your consistency," Klembara said.
Following Perles in the scoring column for the Raiders were Devan Dyszel and Sarah Getchey with eight apiece, and Nikki Komara and Ali Singh with six apiece.
