SHAMOKIN - Weather forecasts that indicated Friday's day-long rain would continue throughout the night forced officials at several area high schools to postpone Friday night football games.
As a result, Danville will visit Southern Columbia today at 7 p.m., and North Schuylkill's visit to Mount Carmel for a matchup of unbeaten teams will take place Sunday at 5 p.m. at the Silver Bowl.
In another schedule adjustment, Line Mountain's game at Halifax next week has been moved from Friday to Saturday at 7 p.m. The reason for the change is the switch of Halifax's game this week to Monday night, giving the Wildcats a short week to prepare.
Other regional games that fell victim to the weather include: Tri-Valley at Millersburg, Bloomsburg at Hughesville, Central Columbia at Mifflinburg, Jersey Shore at Shikellamy, Panther Valley at Shenandoah Valley and Minersville at Marian Catholic. All will be played today at 7 p.m.
Mount Carmel Area athletic director Greg Sacavage said the reason for the North Schuylkill-Mount Carmel game moving to Sunday was due to the lack of availability of stadium security personnel for Saturday night.
