'Dawgs get best of Red Raiders

COAL TOWNSHIP - YanCarlos Mendez scored two goals, and Tri-Valley benefitted from two Lourdes own goals to take a 6-0 win over the Red Raiders in Schuylkill League boys soccer Wednesday.

The game was played in 30-minute halves because of poor field conditions.

Tri-Valley is 4-8-1 in Division II and Lourdes dropped to 0-12.

Spartans sweep Wreckers, Green Wave

Brendan Shearn (14:32), Devin Mashack, Evan Brouse and Alex Weisbeck took the top four spots to lead North Schuylkill to non-league wins over Weatherly (15-50) and Nativity (17-44).

Girls cross country

Spartans defeat Wreckers, Green Wave

North Schuylkill swept the top seven spots, led by Abby Warner's first-place time of 19:35, as the Spartans ran past Weatherly and Nativity, both 15-50.

HEGINS - Line Mountain's Tia Kissinger scored the Eagles' only goal with 2 minutes remaining as the Eagles overall recored dropped to 8-9.

Line Mountain will need to win its final game against Lancaster Country Day on Saturday to qualify for the District 4 playoffs.
