MANDATA - Line Mountain senior football player Connor Laudenslager underwent emergency surgery Tuesday for an apparent blood clot to the brain and, although expected to make a full recovery, is likely to miss the rest of the football season.
According to Line Mountain head coach Mike Carson, Laudenslager, a 6-2, 270-pound two-way lineman, was stricken during an indoor practice at the school on Tuesday afternoon.
"I'm limited in what I'm allowed to say with all the medical regulations," Carson said when contacted Wednesday night. "We had just gotten done with our warmups and were getting ready to do some other drills when something happened to him"
Carson said that from information he was able to gather from family members and doctors, Laudenslager apparently had a blood clot somewhere between the heart and brain. Laudenslager was quickly transported to Geisinger Medical Center by a Dalmatia Area Ambulance crew. The ambulance serviceis located at the bottom of the hill to the entrance to the school, and the crew's efforts were apparently instrumental in quickly stabilizing Laudenslager.
Carson said the surgery apparently went well and Laudenslager is expected to make a full recovery, although he will probably need long term therapy.
Laudenslager is a son of William and Roxanne Laudenslager, of Herndon. Attempts to reach the family were unsuccessful.
