Benefit 5K Run/Walk
A 5K Run/Walk has been planned to honor the courage and dedication of first responders during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run is scheduled for Sept. 10 to benefit the Northumberland County Tunnel to Towers Team. The 3.1 mile run/walk will start at the railroad tunnel on Badman's Hill Road in Weigh Scales and end at Claude E. Kehler Community Park in Shamokin. Water will be provided halfway and at the finish line. Race time is 10 a.m. Registration the day of the race will be from 8 to 10 a.m. at the park. Transportation from the park to the start line will be provided. Pre-registration can be done by going to neparunner.com or at www.runnersworld.com.
Holy Angels Basketball
Player registration for any girl or boy in grades 1 through 6 interested in playing basketball for Holy Angels Parish will be held Mondays Sept. 12 and 19, 5;30 to 7 p.m. in the parish activities center.
Football Officials Meetings
Keystone Chapter remaining meetings will be Sept. 20, Oct. 4 and 18 and Nov. 13.
Sunbury Fall Volleyball
The Sunbury YMCA is currently organizing its fall volleyball league. The league will consist of six-person teams. The league will begin Sept. 8 and for approximately eight weeks. Fee is $65 per team and $20 for each non-YMCA member. First 12 teams to register will be accepted. For more information or to register, call the Sunbury YMCA's program director at 570-286-5636.
Shamokin Sports Passes
Sports passes for the Shamokin Area Middle/High School are on sale in the principal's office from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Adult passes are $50. Student passes are $10. Senior citizens 65 and older can receive a free gold pass with proper identification.
Mount Carmel Supper Club
Mount Carmel Supper Club will be every Thursday during the football season at Matucci's. Cost is the same as last year. All proceeds are used to buy sweatshirts for varsity players, senior members of the band, cheerleading and television studio.
1966 Mount Carmel Area Football Team
The Ed Romance Hall of Fame Chapter will honor the 1966 Mount Carmel Area team Friday, Sept. 23 during the Loyalsock game at the Silver Bowl. All players and cheerleaders should contact Dabby at 205-0762.
Kulpmont Fire Dept. Golf Tournament
Saturday, Oct. 1 at Indian Hills Golf Club. It will be a four-man scramble beginning at 2 p.m. Cost is $65 for a golf, and $260 for a foursome. There will be a closest to the pin competition as well as mulligans for sale the day of the event. Cabrini Meeting
The Cabrini Baseball Organization will hold its monthly board meeting at the former Mother Cabrini Bingo Hall on Race & Vine Streets, Shamokin on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 6:00 p.m. All board members are required to attend.
Any players/parents from the 2011 season who still have any unfinished business with the organization such as uniforms needing to be turned in, outstanding financial debts, or items owed to you such as pictures, graduation gifts, trophies, etc., should report to the hall on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m.
