Cashman retires from PIAA
MECHANICSBURG - PIAA Executive Director Brad Cashman has announced that he will step down as the organization's top administraor effective next July.
Cashman, who has headed the PIAA since 1993, made the announcement at the PIAA Board of Directors meeting on Friday. It was reported on the website RodFrisco.com, a website by Rod Frisco, a former Harrisburg Patriot-News sports writer who does research, reporting and administrative work on a contract basis for District 3 and the PIAA.
Cashman, 64, joined the PIAA administrative staff in 1980 as business manager and assistant executive director following 10 years as a teacher and coach at Northern York High School.
He replaced Dr. Russell T. Werner as executive director.
The Philadelphia Public Schools and the Philadelphia Catholic League were brought into the PIAA during Cashman's tenure.
