Shamokin Area Volleyball Camp
Monday, Aug. 1, through Thursday, Aug. 4, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. each day, in the high school gym. Open to boys and girls grades 3-9 in the fall. Cost is $60 and all campers receive a t-shirt. Applications are available at the high school business office or by contacting Wanda Cook at 648-6198 or wcook@indians.k12.pa.us. Last day to register is July 8 and pre-registration is required.
Shamokin Sports Physicals
Shamokin Area Middle/High School sports physicals will be Thursday, July 28. Students who plan on participating in sports in the 2011-2012 school year should report to the gym lobby for examinations. Students currently in sixth and seventh grades should report at 12:30 p.m. Students currently in grades 8-11 should report at 12:45. Students must pick up PIAA physical evaluation forms and SASD athletic policy packets in the principal's office prior to the exams. All forms must be completed by a parent/guardian, in advance. Students who do not have a completed PIAA physical evaluation form will not be allowed to participate, including practices. The physical is free of charge.
Swimming Lessons
Available through the Sunbury YMCA for a two-week session. Classes are Monday through Thursday for two weeks. The session lasts from July 18-29. Three class times, based on ability, are available. A pre-guard course will also be offered from Aug. 8-26. For more information, contact the Sunbury YMCA.
Red Tornado Youth Football Camp
Camp has been cancelled and will not be rescheduled.
Shamokin Area Junior High Softball
Girls entering seventh and eighth grades for the 2011 school year and interested in playing softball can continue to register by contacting any of the following coaches: Jim Campbell at 898-2987, Greg Bonshock at 259-4404 or Rick Burns at 259-5917. PIAA physicals will be held Thursday, July 28 at 12:30 p.m. at the high school. Physical forms will be handed out at a meeting Monday, July 25, at the high school softball field at 7 p.m. Forms can also be picked up at the high school office. There is no charge for the physicals.
North Schuylkill Track Open
The track at North Schuylkill's stadium is once again open for public use. The track will be available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Walkers and joggers are asked to use the two outside lanes in order to minimize wear and tear on the high traffic areas of the track. Also, the field portion of the stadium is off limits to any type of activities.
Mount Carmel Boys Soccer
There will be open field sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Fifth Street complex for boys wishing to play boys' varsity soccer at Mount Carmel this year.
Mount Carmel Rotary Track Camp
Mount Carmel Area Rotary Track Camp will be held July 25-27, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Mount Carmel Area Stadium. Campers will be in four groups according to grade, raning from grade 2 to grade 9. Cost is $40, which includes a T-shirt. For more information, call 339-1500.
Cabrini Baseball All-Star Tournament
The Cabrini Baseball Organization is looking for teams for its second annual all-star tournament to be held Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24. Teams can be comprised of players from ages nine to 12 who are on any 2011 junior/Little League roster. It will be a maximum 12-team double-elimination tournament. A team trophy will be awarded to the top three place winners, and medals will also be awarded to all players for the first and second place teams. 2011 Red Tornado Open
The Red Tornado Touchdown Club will hold its annual golf tournament on Saturday, Aug. 13, at Mountain Valley Golf Course. It will begin at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start. Jane Korbich Memorial Golf Tournament
The 20th annual Jane F. Korbich Memorial Golf Tournament is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, at Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Club. Proceeds from this year's tournament will go toward upgrading and purchasing of clinical and diagnostic equipment at Shamokin Area Community Hospital. Registration deadline for the scramble format event is Aug. 5. There will be contests putting, closest to the pin, longest drives, most accurate drive and a $5,000 putting powerball. Maine Fire Co. Golf Tournament
The eighth annual Maine Fire Company golf tournament will be held Saturday, Aug. 6 at 9:30 a.m. at Indian Hills Golf and Tennis Club. Cost is $60 per golfer for the two-man blind scramble. 15-U Tournament
Trevorton Youth Girls Fastpitch 4th annual Softball Tournament will be held July 23-24. There is a $250 entrance fee. Teams are guaranteed three games. Top three teams will place and receive trophies and medals. For more information contact Melissa Tharp at 570-274-3637.
Fall Baseball
Teams are being formed for ages six to eight, nine to 11 and 12 to 14. Age cutoffs are as of April 30, 2010. There is no fee for participation and the league will run from early August through late September.

Line Mountain Field Hockey
Fall Eaglet Program for girls entering grades 4-5-6-7-8 this year. Program will be Wednesday's beginning Aug. 24 and will end Oct. 1, which is the school's homecoming Saturday. North Schuylkill Athletic Physicals
Physicals will be provided Saturday, Aug. 6 at the high school under the following schedule: 9 a.m., junior high girls basketball; 9:30 a.m., girls volleyball; 9:45 a.m., junior high football cheerleading; 10 a.m., varsity football cheerleading; 10:15 a.m., junior high cross country; 10:45 a.m., varsity cross country; 11 a.m., girls soccer; 11:30 a.m., boys soccer; 11:45 a.m., golf; noon, junior high football; 12:45 p.m., junior varsity/varsity football. A $10 fee paid to North Schuylkill Athletics must be paid before an athlete may receive a physical.
Little Shamokin Indians practice
First practice for the Little Shamokin Indians will be held Monday, Aug. 1, at 6 p.m. at the Bunker Hill Sports Complex. Uniforms will be handed out at this time and there will be a last chance sign up.
Mount Carmel soccer camp
Mount Carmel Area boys soccer team and coaches will hold a soccer camp Aug. 8-10 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Mount Carmel Area High School soccer field in front of the high school. Campers will receive instruction on improving fundamental skills. Camp is for boys and girls ages 5-14. Cost is $45, which includes refreshments and a t-shirt.
