LOCK HAVEN - Bloomsburg University's football team made good of its last chance to tune up for next weekend's Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship game, rushing for 303 yards in a convincing 40-3 win at Lock Haven Saturday afternoon.
The fifth-ranked Huskies (10-0, 9-0 PSAC East) stretched their winning streak to 10 games and set up a rematch for the PSAC title next week at Slippery Rock. The Huskies defeated Slippery Rock (8-2, 7-2 PSAC), the PSAC West champion by way of tiebreaker following its win over Clarion and a loss by California (Pa.) at Mercyhurst, in last year's PSAC championship game.
Bloomsburg led 13-3 at halftime, but dominated after the break to put the game on ice.
The Huskies scored on their first drive of the game, marching 50 yards in 10 plays and cashing in on a six-yard run by Dai'Shon Munger, who was taking over added responsibilities with PSAC rushing touchdown leader Eddie Mateo out with injury.
Later in the quarter the Huskies went ahead by two scores on a 26-yard field goal from Braden Drexler.
An interception from Dylan Spangler set Bloomsburg deep in Lock Haven territory, but the Bald Eagles (2-8, 2-7) responded with a pick of their own at their own 2-yard line to end the threat and keep the score 10-0.
The teams exchanged field goals late in the second quarter - a 29-yarder from Drexler and then a connection from 33 yards out by Lock Haven's Alex Boumerhi.
Bloomsburg seized complete control with a 74-yard touchdown drive capped on a five-yard plunge from fullback Brody Myers for a 20-3 lead less than three minutes into the second half.
A pair of touchdown strikes from Tim Kelly to D.J. McFadden gave the Huskies style points. The first came on a 39-yard pitch and catch to finish a six-play, 87-yard drive in the third quarter and then the two connected again to open the fourth quarter on a 19-yard touchdown pass.
The Huskies scored again on a one-yard quarterback plunge by Brady Knerr.
Munger led the offense with 117 yards on 22 carries. Joe Parsnik added his second career 100-yard rushing day with 104 yards on 14 totes.
Kelly finished 13 of 18 for 184 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. Chad Hoffman and McFadden both caught five passes for 81 yards.
