The 24th annual Pennsylvania Sprint Car Speedweek begins Friday night at Williams Grove Speedway with a $5,000-to-win main event for the sprinters.
The series heads to Lincoln Speedway from there for the Kevin Gobrecht Memorial Saturday night. That 30-lap main event pays $7,000 to win.
Fred Rahmer retired at the end of 2013. He did so with more Speedweek wins (30) and championships (13) than any other driver. He will now try his hand at promoting a speedweek race and that will be third third stop and first since 1996 at Path Valley Speedway - about one hour south of Port Royal off Route 75 in Spring Run just before the Pennsylvania turnpike.
The race pays the regular speedweek purse with $5,000 going to the winner, but there will be various incentives that could increase a driver's payday to near $8,000. Fans will also receive prizes including free shirts.
From there, the series has an off night Monday before going to Grandview Speedway Tuesday, and Hagerstown Wednesday.
The series heads to Port Royal for the first of two shows there Thursday night, July 3, and then the Mitch Smith Memorial at the Grove Friday, July 4. They head back to Port Royal Saturday night, July5, and head to Selinsgrove Speedway for the Jan Opperman Memorial to conclude Speedweek July 6. The series champion gets $3,000 as long as all nine races are completed.
Greg Hodnett of Thomasville is the four-time and defending speedweek champion. Hodnett is one of the favorites one again
heading into a grueling week for the teams with nine races in 10 days.
Saturday night at Selinsgrove Speedway, it was Brock Zearfoss getting the 360-sprint car win over TJ Stutts, Mark Smith, Derek Locke and Pat Cannon. His first win of the season at the Snyder County half-mile dirt track was worth $2,000. He also has a Williams Grove win in the 358 sprints. Sunbury's Mark Smith continues to lead the point standings by 80 over Stutts.
Danville's Jeff Rine scored his 88th career late model feature at Selinsgrove Speedway. Jerry Bard, Jim Yoder, Tony Adams and Donnie Schick followed Rine. Steve Campbell is the point leader over Rine.
Derrick Garman won the pro stock feature and Keith Bissinger won the roadrunners.
At Port Royal Speedway Saturday night, it was Dylan Cisney leading all 25 laps to win the sprint car feature. Doug Esh closed late, but couldn't clear a last turn pass attempt. Blane Heimbach was closing late as well, but finished third. Dave Ely and Mike Wagner followed.
Tim Fuller won $3,000 in the 30-lap main event for the late models at Port Royal. Mason Zeigler, Jared Miley, Keith Barbara and Dan Stone were in the top five.
At Williams Grove Speedway Friday night, Brian Montieth passed Alan Krimes and went on to his first Grove win of the season in the sprint car feature. Greg Hodnett, Lance Dewease and Doug Esh were in the top five.

Robbie Kendall won his first career sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway Saturday night one night after he won the 358 sprint car feature at Trail-Way Speedway.
The World of Outlaw late model series will be at Big Diamond Speedway in Minersville Tuesday night.
Brett Kressley picked up the biggest win of his career Friday evening, winning the 30 lap, $3,000 to win Andy Fayash Memorial race for the Sportsman Modifieds at Big Diamond Speedway.
