Shamokin Area Basketball Camp
Monday, June 16, through Thursday, June 19, 8:30 a.m. to noon, at the Shamokin Area Middle/High School gym. Camp is designed to expose campers to the basic fundamentals of basketball and develop an interest in the sport. Boys or girls entering grades 1 through 8 may apply. Early registration (by May 30) is $60. After that, registration is $70. Each camper will receive a t-shirt at the end of the week. Second Annual Hillside Coaches Golf Classic
Saturday, June 28, at Knoebels Three Ponds. Event is a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Participants must be at least 21 years. Funds raised will go toward supporting the football players and cheerleaders at Shamokin Area. Sponsorship includes green fees, cart fees, breakfast, lunch and a tournament novelty. Mount Carmel Area Youth Basketball Camp
Children between the ages of seven and 12 are invited to attend the camp between Monday, June 23 and Thursday, June 26 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the high school gym. Cost of camp is $50. Each camper will receive a t-shirt and lunch will be available. Applications may be picked up in the elementary school office or the high school athletic office. Lourdes Regional Basketball Camp
The 13th annual Lourdes Basketball Camp will be held June 16-20. Cost is $80 for those who register prior to June 1. Basketball will be taught in a fun, competitive atmosphere. Featured speaker will be Penn State alumnus and all-time leading Big 10 women's basketball scorer Kelly Mazzante. Coal Bowl Summer League
Registration at the Coal Bowl until the last week in May. League will be every Thursday from June 5 to Aug. 6. It will be 9-pin, no-tap, non-sanctioned league open to all ages and skill levels. Teams are made up of four people, but a full team isn't needed to sign up. Anyone interested should call or stop in during normal business hours for more information.
Hyno-Tiger Youth Football Camp
Southern Columbia will host the Hyno-Tiger Youth Football Camp, featuring Henry Hynoski and other members of the New York Giants on Saturday, June 14, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. The camp is open to athletes entering grades 3-9 and will feature and autograph session for campers and their families at the conclusion of the camp. Cost is $40 if pre-registered by June 1 and $50 the day of the camp, and includes a T-shirt and lunch. Proceeds will benefit Camp Victory, a summer camp for children with physical and mental disabilities, chronic health conditions or recovering from the effects of catastrophic illness. Indian Hills Junior Golf School
PGA professional Don Spieller will be conducting a Junior Golf School for children ages 5-11 June 24-26 from 9-10:30 a.m. each day. The SNAG Program is a fun-illed way to teach kids how to play golf using many different teaching aids and all equipment is provided. You can check out SNAG at www.snaggolf.com. Cost of this three-day school is $60. There will also be a junior golf school for youths ages 12-17 who are either beginners or more advanced players. This will take place June 24-26, 11 a.m-1 p.m. These golfers are asked to bring their own equipment; if not it can be provided. This will cover putting, chipping, pitching, sand, irons, driving and course management as well as rules. Cost of this school is $70. Please register by June 15 to be included in either school.
Richard F Beierschmitt Memorial Golf Scramble
Indian Hills will conduct the 1st Richard F. Beierschmitt Golf Scramble on July 13th. This event will raise monies in memory of Richard F Beierschmitt, past superintendent of Mount Carmel Area School District and a member of Indian Hills GC. Money raised for this event will be donated back to Mount Carmel Area School District for worthwhile causes. This is a 9 a.m. shotgun start and includes coffee & doughnuts, carts, lunch, prizes and refreshments on the course. Entry fee is $80. The 17th annual Charles Sacavage Memorial Golf Tournament, hosted by the Mount Carmel Eagles, will be held Saturday, June 14, at Three Ponds Golf Course. Friday Night After Dark Nighttime 5K Run/Walk
6th annual Mighty Masser's After Dark Nighttime 5K Run/Walk, Friday, May 30, at Kemp Memorial Stadium, Coal Township, to benefit the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Line Mountain Field Hockey Frenzy
Line Mountain Field Hockey Frenzy will be held Saturday, May 31, to bring together the various levels of the Line Mountain field hockey program as well to promote a day of team, friends/family and community bonding. The Eaglet Tournament, featuring players in grades 2-6, will start at 10 a.m., followed by the Frenzy Tournament at 1 p.m., featuing players in grades 7-12 as well as family and friends. Other activities include raffles, food and clothing concessions, carnival games, face painting and sand art.
