H.S. SPORTS: Line Mountain baseball defeats Juniata

MANDATA - J.P. Lenker blasted a 3-run home run and Line Mountain pounded out 18 hits in a 12-1 Tri-Valley League baseball victory over Juniata on Wednesday.

Brady Michael knocked in two runs with a double and two singles, while Kellan Masser plated three with a single and double. Colton Gaw added a double and single, and winning pitcher Cory Warford contributed a double.

Warford allowed two singles, struck out four and walked only one in the five-inning victory.

S. Williamsport 3 Mount Carmel 2

KULPMONT - The Mounties scored one run each in the sixth, seventh and eighth innings to spoil the debut of interim head coach Shawn Kalinoski, who took over for Ray Bettleyon who resigned for personal reasons.

Bret Williams belted a home run for the Red Tornadoes (0-4).

Central Columbia 12 Shamokin 0

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jeff Kashner had a double, and Joey Deptula had a single for the Indians'

only hits in the loss to the Blue Jays.

Starter Brad Carpenter worked the first inning and sustained the defeat. He was relieved by Jake Wolfe.

Southern 13 Millville 3

CATAWISSA RR - Zach Tillett and Mitch Stanziale drove in two runs each, leading the Tigers to the Heartland III victory over the Quakers.

Blake Marks had three singles for Southern. Tillett had a double and single.

Mason Peters worked the first four innings, allowing all three Millville runs, and earned the victory.

The Tigers, with the score tied at three, broke the game open with 10 runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Softball Shamokin 14 Danville 0

DANVILLE - Carley Nash fired a two-hitter and Natalie Wolfe led a 15-hit attack with three singles in the Indians' Heartland I shutout over the Ironmen.

Jenny Hornberger added a home run and single to the Shamokin attack, while Olivia Bonshock drove in three runs with a double and single. Brie Bonshock added two singles, and Helana Supsic had a double.

Nash struck out four and didn't walk a batter as the Indians remained perfect at 5-0.

Juniata 10 Line Mountain 7

MANDATA - The Indians rallied for seven runs over the final three innings to secure the Tri-Valley League victory over the Eagles.

Brooke Long, Joelle Snyder, Kiana Lukoskie and Bre Boyer all hit safely for Line Mountain. Deidre Long drove in three runs.

Schuylkill Haven 20 Lourdes 5

MOUNT CARMEL - Opening with eight runs in the first inning, the Hurricanes rolled to the Schuylkill League victory over the Red Raiders.

Caity Funk led Lourdes offensively with a double and triple. Peyton Klembara added a double.

Klembara sustained the defeat.

Danville 83 Mount Carmel 67

DANVILLE - Ali Varano was a triple individual winner for the Red Tornadoes in the Heartland Conference matchup with the Ironmen, placing first in the 100 dash, 300 hurdles and long jump.

Marissa Kleman was a double winner, placing first in the 200 and 400 dashes.

Single winners were Lauren Hause in the 1600-meter run, Amber Kogut in the shot put and Madelyn Witkoski in the discus.
