2011 Ed Romance HOF Chapter class announced

MOUNT CARMEL - Brian Bubnis, Steve Maciejewski, Father Pat Devine, Fred "Fritz" Murdock, Billy O'Brien, Anthony "Tony" Puskevich and Jennifer Hutnick Roger are the 2011 inductees into the Ed Romance Chapter of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. This year's inductees will be honored March 26, 2011 at The American Legion Ballroom in Mount Carmel at 2 p.m.

Bubnis was a Mount Carmel Area football and track star in the early 1960s and later started at the University of Pittsburgh.

Father Pat Devine was a three-sport star in the early 1960s at Mount Carmel Catholic, where he was an honorable mention all-state at quarterback.

Maciejewski was a three-sport standout at Lourdes Regional in the 1980s, playing on a football team which was 9-1 and a district championship basketball team. He played football at Bloomsburg University.

Murdock was an outstanding fullback for the undefeated 1951 Kulpmont Wildcats and went on to Mansfield University to play football.

O'Brien was the first 1000-point scorer in Mount Carmel Catholic basketball history and went on to play for the Susquehanna University Crusaders.

Paskevich was a football and basketball standout at Mount Carmel in the 1930s and went on to star at Syracuse University as a center.

Jennifer Hutnick Roger was track standout at Mount Carmel Area in the mid 1980s, setting school records in the 100 and 200 meters. Her 100 record still stands, She was also a district champion.

The chapter will also honor scholar athletes Ian Kanezo as the Joseph Jazz Diminick Males Scholar Athlete, Brigid Demko as the Joseph Wasilewski Female Scholar Athlete and Christine Mrozek as the St. Pauline Visintainer Scholar.

The Chapter is also proud to bring back the 1991 District 11 championship basketball team under head coach John McKay on its 20th anniversary. Special achievement awards will be presented to Michael Stutzcavage, Nick Dusendschine, and Dylan Hornberger.
