3 Huskies to play in showcase games

BLOOMSBURG - Three Bloomsburg University football players have made plans to play in postseason invitational all-star games.

Senior offensive tackle Matt Feiler has accepted an invitation to play in this year's East-West Shrine Game held on Jan. 18, in St. Petersburg, Fla., and broadcast on the NFL Network. The East-West Shrine Game is the longest running college all-star game in the country, first being held in 1925. More than 100 players from the 88th edition of the game signed with professional teams in 2013 and on average more than 275 East-West Shrine Game alumni are on NFL rosters each year. The game benefits Shriners Hospitals for Children. Feiler started 35 straight games for the Huskies and was a 2013 first team All-PSAC East and Daktronics Super Region 1 selection.

Senior running back Franklyn Quiteh has agreed to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl, also scheduled for Jan. 18, in Los Angeles. Quiteh, the all-time leading rusher in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference history and second all-time in Division II at 7,523 yards, will join some of the nation's top draft-eligible collegiate players for the game. Former NFL head coaches Dick Vermeil and Denny Green will coach the teams and the game, along with a practice during the week, will be aired by the ESPN networks. This year's NFLPA Collegiate Bowl will take place at the StubHub Center on the campus of California State University Dominguez Hills. Quiteh has already earned multiple postseason honors, taking Offensive Player of the Year accolades for both the PSAC East and Daktronics Super Region 1.

Placekicker Danny Fisher will play in the D2 vs. NAIA Senior Bowl on Dec. 21 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The game is comprised of top players from across Division II and NAIA and is open to seniors who have completed collegiate eligibility. A three-time all-region selection, Fisher finished his career as the all-time leader in PSAC history for field goals, PATs made and kicking points.
