SHAMOKIN - Patrick Kitt was named the first place winner in the 12th and final week of The News-Item Football Contest.
Kitt, of 803 Scott St., Kulpmont, was the only contestant, out of 184 entries received, who picked all 13 games correctly, earning a $50 gift certificate to the participating businesses.
There were 45 entrants who correctly picked 12 out of 13 games out of the slate of games, so contest judges went to the contest tiebreaker, most points scored by a team. That score was 51 points, scored by both Wisconsin in their 51-3 win over Indiana and Ole Miss in their 51-21 victory over Troy.
No contestant picked 51 points but 13 guessed within one point, picking either 50 or 52 points. A random drawing was held among those entrants and Gail Rumberger, of 5029 Upper Road, Shamokin, was awarded second place and a $25 gift certificate. Donald Deromedi, of Atlas, won third place and a $15 gift certificate.
The three winners and all those who picked 12 out of 13 games are entered in the final drawing for the $200 cash prize for the grand prize winner.
