PAXINOS - Golfers and hole sponsors are being sought for the 15th annual Nicholas Girolami Memorial Golf Benefit on Sunday, July 14, at Indian Hills and Golf Tennis Club.

The four-person scramble tournament will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. An $85 entry fee includes the use of golf carts, prizes, coffee, doughnuts, beer and soda on the course and lunch after golf.

Golfers also will be eligible to win a 2013 Chevrolet Cobalt hole-in-one prize sponsored by the New Paul Stine Chevrolet by Mark Monaghan, Selinsgrove.

The tourney is held in honor of Nick Girolami, who died in a car accident Aug. 26, 1998, at the age of 17 while a senior at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School. Last year's tournament raised $10,500.

The annual benefit is coordinated by Nick's parents, Joseph and Sabrina Girolami, Paxinos, his sister, Shala, and their many friends and family members.

The 2013 tournament, which will be the last, is dedicated to Nick's grandfather, Paul "Butch" Hepler, who faithfully attended the benefit every year before passing away in February.

Family members, who want the final tournament to be the best ever, said $5,084 of the 2012 proceeds was added to the Nicholas Girolami Memorial Fund at FNB Bank. A portion of the proceeds was distributed to a deserving 2013 graduate of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School and $5,000 was presented to Logan Williams of Paxinos, who was struck by lightning in September 2001 and continues to recover from serious injuries. Shepherd's Table of Shamokin, a fellowship kitchen, was presented $2,300.

The final fund-raising event will once again benefit the Nicholas Girolami Memorial Scholarship Fund at Lourdes. Proceeds also will go toward Brian Christiana of Shamokin, who suffered a spinal injury during a fall in August 2012 and continues to recover. Christiana has been unable to work since the accident and donations from the tournament will help him and his two sons with living and medical expenses.

The goal for this year's tourney is $11,000.

Family members hope to secure hole sponsorships of $100, but will accept any donation.

Checks may be made payable to The Nicholas Girolami Memorial Golf Benefit by July 10 and sent to Joseph and Sabrina Girolami, 4129 State Route 61, Paxinos, Pa. 17860-7542.

For more information on the tournament, contact the Indian Hills Pro Shop or club golf pro Don Spieller at 570-644-1972.
