MC offense thumps Dragons

KULPMONT - Mount Carmel's Joe Swatsky pitched a complete game and got plenty of help from his offense as the Red Tornadoes defeated Lewisburg, 14-4 in five innings, on Wednesday.

Mike Stutzcavage and Cody Shustack hit solo home runs in the first inning for Mount Carmel, and Mark Minnig launched a three-run homer as part of a five-run third inning for the Red Tornadoes (6-5 overall).

CharLee Rosini struck out eight Blue Devils to get the win for Lourdes, while Peyton Klembara scored two of the Red Raiders' runs.

MONTGOMERY - Southern Columbia's Matt Moore was a triple winner in the Tigers' Heartland Conference meet with Montgomery.

Moore was the 100-meter dash, and swept the hurdle events. Andrew Steely was a double winner in the distance events (1600 and 3200-meter runs), while Joey Kleman raced to victories in the 200 and 400-meter races for the Tigers.
