COAL TOWNSHIP - Lourdes' boys basketball team opened the season with a 72-42 win over Meadowbrook Christian in the 17th annual Red Raider Tip-Off Basketball Tournament Friday.

Zack Oquendo scored 33 points and pulled in 10 rebounds to lead the Red Raiders, who will play New Hope Academy in the championship game today at 4:30 p.m.

New Hope Academy defeated Tri-Valley 53-11 Friday.

Anthony Pennypacker also scored 20 points and had eight rebounds for Lourdes, while Michael Menapace had 10 assists and five steals in the win.

Cole Rickert led the charge with 21 points, followed by Bill Breinich and Colton Hunsberger with 15 and 14 points, respectively.

MANDATA - Line Mountain opened its season with a win over Millville in the Line Mountain Tip-Off Tournament.

The Eagles will play in the championship game tonight at 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, Jade London led the Eagles with 16 points, while Sarah Lahr chipped with 15, including three 3-pointers.

Colleen Troutman had nine points and led Line Mountain with 12 rebounds.

BLOOMSBURG - Shamokin and Mount Carmel Area each advanced five wrestlers through the early rounds of the Darren Klingerman Invitational Wrestling Tournament at Bloomsburg High School Friday.

Lansberry, Smeltz advance

WILLIAMSPORT - Seth Lansberry (145) and Erik Smeltz (182) advanced to today's semifinal round for Line Mountain at the Top Hate Tournament at Williamsport Area High School.

Line Mountain stands 13th in the 19-team field with 34.5 points. Central Columbia leads with 86.5 points.

Lansberry was a 10-0 winner over Austin Holloway of Red Lion in the quarterfinals, and Smeltz decisionedc Hughesville's Robert White, 4-2.
