Up next: Southern Columbia grad Henry Hynoski and his New York Giants' teammates travel to Washington to play their NFC East rival the Redskins on Monday night. The Giants currently have a two-game lead in the divisional race and could take a big step toward repeating as division champs with a primetime win.
Last week: The Giants ended a two-game losing streak with a big win over the Green Bay Packers, 38-10. Hynoski (No. 45), the Giants' starting fullback, was credited with being thrown at twice, but quarterback Eli Manning missed him near the end zone for what would have been Hynoski's first professional touchdown. On the season, Hynoski has three carries for 12 yards and seven catches for 32 yards.
In the media: According to New York Daily News reports, Hynoski, in his second year, is being asked to stay after practice and tutor rookie running back David Wilson, who will be looked on to play more after an injury to backup Andre Brown, in pass protection. Hynoski is also playing teacher in the classroom, giving the rookie written quizzes and grading them.
"I'm going to be extra hard on him this week, getting him prepared," Hynoski told Ebenezer Samuel for a story published Tuesday.
The loss of Brown could also lead to more touches for Hynoski, an aspect of his game he talked about with Dan Salomone on giants.com.
"We didn't get there yet," Hynoski said. "But I'll be fighting for a couple hopefully."
Following @HenryHynoski on Twitter: Hynoski knows a team is only as good as its next game:
"Great to be a part of such a great win! But now it's on to the next one."
