New Jersey racer Rick Lafferty scored his third Williams Grove Speedway sprint car win of the season on Saturday night during the season-ending Fall Fest, which included feature races only for the Grove's four main divisions.

Lafferty was running second on a last lap restart when Brian Montieth's sprinter ran out of fuel. Montieth had dominated the event and appeared headed to victory until the caution flag flew with one lap to race.

On the restart, Montieth's car sputtered entering turn one and Lafferty drove by and into the lead. He completed the final lap to score the win. Brent Marks, Cory Haas, Logan Schuchart and Lance Dewease completed the top five.

It was Lafferty's third Grove win of the season and all of them have been since Labor Day weekend. He earned $3,600.

Thomasville's Greg Hodnett finished sixth. He won five times at the Grove this year and earned his second track championship. It was the first championship for car owner John Trone.

Pat Cannon of Etters took the lead from Mark Smith with eight laps to go and went on to win his third 358 sprint feature of the season and 28th of his career at the Grove. Smith, of Sunbury, finished second. Eric Tomecek, Dale Hammaker and Adrian Shaffer completed the top five.

Cannon earned his fifth career Williams Grove track championship this season in the 358 sprints. He leads all drivers in wins and championships as he does at Selinsgrove Speedway.

Eric Walker held off Scott Dellinger to win the 20-lap main event for the super sportsman. Mike Enders, super sportsman champion Frankie Herr and Rick Barr completed the top five.

Grant Adams won the 358 late model feature, holding off the late-race challenge of Charlie Schaffer. Travis Mease, track champion Gene Knaub and Randy Stoudt completed the top five.

A few dirt track races remain this season.

Hagerstown (Md.) Speedway presents Brawl in the Fall this weekend featuring 410 and 358 sprints, super late models and the big block modifieds. Qualifying for all four divisions will be held on Saturday afternoon with main events held on Sunday afternoon. The modifieds and super late models will run 50 laps for $10,000 to win. The 410 sprints will go 30 laps for $10,000, while the 358 sprints will run 30 laps for $3,000 to win.

The World Finals for the World of Outlaws sprint cars and late models, along with the big block modifieds, will be held at the Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., on Nov. 1-3.

The outdoor racing season in central Pennsylvania concludes on Saturday afternoon Nov. 10 at Susquehanna Speedway Park with 410 and 358 sprint cars.
