Kulpmont Football/Baseball Association

Meetings, first Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Coal Runnings

Running club, meets at 5:30 p.m. each Monday at Shamokin Area's Kemp Memorial Stadium parking lot. Open to runners of all ages. More on Facebook at coalrunnings.

Shamokin Area Sports Passes

Student sport passes and adult sport passes for the 2012-13 school year are available in the high school principal's office. Student passes are $10. Adult passes are $50. Senior citizen passes are free for fans 65 years and older who present a valid driver's license. Those who have reserved football tickets may also pick them up in the principal's office.

Soccer Team Seeks Players

Shamokin based (BDSC) U-13 girls travel soccer team will hold tryouts for the fall season. Practices are held at the Elysburg fields next to McDonald's. Players interested should contact Connie at 570-648-1465.

Lourdes 5K Run

Lourdes Regional Raiderfest 5K Run will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 9 a.m. Pre-registered participants are guaranteed a T-shirt and race day registrants will receive them as long as supplies last. Top three male and female finishers in each age group win awards. Registration is $20, $15 students 18 and younger. Refreshments provided at finish. For more information, e-mail OLOL5K@yahoo.com.

Annual Chicken Barbeque

The Red Tornado Touchdown Club will conduct its annual chicken barbeque at the stadium, Friday, Aug. 17, from 4-7 p.m. Tickets are $8 and may be purchased from any Tornado football player or cheerleader, or by calling Ed Amarose at 570-205-5156.

Special Olympics Programs

Artistic roller skating will be available at The Skatery on Rt. 225 near Line Mountain High School on Saturday mornings from 11:15 a.m. to noon, and bocce will be available at the Milton State Park on Fridays at 6 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. For more information, visit http://sopanorthumberlandsnyder.shutterfly.com.

SYBL Skills Workout

Skills workout for all players grades 1-4 Wednesdays, 6 p.m., grades 5-8 Thursdays at 6 p.m. at the American Legion gym.

Keystone Chapter Foootball Officials

The Keystone Chapter of PIAA football officials will meet on the following dates at 7 p.m.: Aug. 21, Aug. 28, Sept. 4, Sept. 18, Oct. 2, Oct. 16 and Oct. 30. There is a dinner meeting Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Independence Fire Co. The PIAA requires officials attend at least six chapter meetings.

Locust Gap Golf Tournament

The Locust Gap Fire Company will hold a golf tournament on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Rolling Meadows Golf Course, Mowery, beginning at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start. For more information or to make a donation, call Jack Minnig at 339-1241 or 590-4110. All proceeeds benefit the fire company.

Mount Carmel Area Reserved Seats

MCA varsity football reserved season tickets for the upcoming season will be on sale beginnning Aug. 22. Sale hours will be in the athletic office from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. daily with evening hours set for Wednesday, Aug. 22 between 6 and 7 p.m. The first 40 indiviudals purchasing season tickets will receive a stadium seat cusion courtsey of C.J. Lucus Funeral Home and Village Towne Restaurant. A packet of reserved tickets for the season is $25.

Fall Volleyball League

The Sunbury YMCA is currently organizing its fall semi-power volleyball league. The league will consist of four-person teams and begin on Thursday, Sept. 13. It will run for approximately eight weeks and costs $65 per team and $20 for each non-member. The first 10 teams to register will be accepted. For more information, call the YMCA at 286-5636.

Knoebel Lumber 5K

The 19th annual Knoebel Lumber 5K race to benefit the Ralpho Township Public Library will be held Saturday, Oct. 6 at Knoebels Amusement Resort. Pre-race registration begins at 7:30 a.m. with the race at 9:30 at Pavilion L. The course is moderately hilly over mixed gravel and asphalt with water at the miles posts and finish. T-shirts are free to the first 200 entrants, with five door prizes worth $25 each for merchandise at Knoebel Lumber, engraved glass plaques to the top three overall males and femals and medals to each of the 20 age group placewinners. MCAJBL party

The Mount Carmel Area Junior Baseball League parent boosters is sponsoring an end-of-year party for the four MCA teams: VFW, Knights of Columbus, Clovers and Anthracite Major and Minor teams, Friday, Aug. 17, from 5-7 p.m. at the Coal Bowl in Shamokin. Players only. Players should let coaches know if they are going to attend.

Girls Fastpitch Softball

The Susquehanna Valley Rebels will hold auditions for its 10-under through 16-under teams Saturday, Aug. 25 and Sunday, Sept. 9 from noon to 3 p.m. at the softball field behind the Dollar General in Elysburg. Kulpmont Fire Department

Second annual golf tournament, Saturday, Oct. 6, at Indian Hills Golf Club. Tournament is a 4-man scramble with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. Cost is $65 per person or $260 per foursome and includes greens and cart fees, dinner and refreshments back at the East End Fire Company, along with entertainment provided by the Terry Meyer Band. There will be prizes for the top three foursomes, along wiht longest drive, closest to the pin and pot of gold contests. For more information, contact Marchall Mirarchi III at 570-274-9656.

All-Home Days 5K

The Elysburg Rotary 5K Run and Walk will be held Monday, Sept. 3, at Ralpho Community Park, Elysburg. Registration, 8 a.m. Cost, $18 per runner (T-shirt included), $5 per walker. Race start 9 a.m.
