Beard earns sprint win at Selinsgrove

York's Josh Beard led all 25 laps of the 358 sprint feature to record his first career win at Selinsgrove Speedway on Saturday night.

Beard became the speedway's third different winner this season and earned $1,500 driving the Godfrey Racing No. 5.

Beard started on the pole and grabbed the lead in the first turn when the green flag fell. Beard was never seriously challenged and won the race by 1.2 seconds over Derek Locke, Pat Cannon, Larry Kelleher and Jason Shultz.

Matt Cochran of Williamsport won the 25-lap late model main event for his first career win. He's also the third different winner in the late models this year. Cochran took the lead from Donnie Schick with five laps to go. Jeff Rine, Jim Yoder and Kenny Trevitz completed the top five.

AJ Hoffman of Richfield won $1,000 for his victory in the Pro Stock 20. Bob Bussey of Northumberland won the 12-lap roadrunner feature. Kyle Bachman, Shaun Miller, Doug Minium and Dave Brouse Jr. followed Hoffman.

Selinsgrove presents the 32nd Annual Jack Gunn Memorial Challenge Race for 358/360 sprints on Saturday sanctioned by the United Racing Company. The late models and roadrunners join the sprint cars.

Rick Lafferty won the sprint car feature at Port Royal Speedway on Saturday night and Tim Wilson swept the late model main events. Steve Buckwalter won the ARDC midget feature.

Cory Haas won the sprint car feature at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday night after trading the lead back and forth with Danny Dietrich over the final half of the race. Lady racer Brie Hershey won the 358 sprint feature.

Russ Mitten won the super sportsman feature at Williams Grove on Saturday while Gene Knaub won the limited late models and Craig Morgan won the street stocks.

The racing program at Williams Grove Speedway was rained out on Friday night.

The World of Outlaw sprint cars come to central Pennsylvania this week with a stop at Lincoln Speedway on Wednesday night before heading to Williams Grove Speedway on Friday and Saturday night.
