CATAWISSA R.R. - Southern Columbia's boys and girls track and field teams clinched the Heartland Conference Division III title with wins in a double-dual meet Tuesday.
The boys beat South Williamsport 108.5-39.5 and Loyalsock 130-20, while the girls similarly swept with a 132-18 win over the Mounties and a 106-44 win over Loyalsock.
For the boys, which won their third straight division title, Tom Schetroma continued his outstanding year with a throw of 55 feet in the shot put to eclipse his personal best yet again.
Matt Moore and Joe Kleman were each double winners for the boys, amounting to a total of four first-place finishes each in the double-dual format. Moore swept the hurdle events, while Kleman outraced everyone in the 100 and 200-meter sprints.
On the girls side, Marissa Noll and Samantha Bressi matched Moore and Kleman's golds. Noll won the two hurdle events, while Bressi swept the short sprints. Teanna Shutt also placed in four events in each meet, winning the 800 and 1,600 against South Williamsport.
